EPoS systems from Intelligent Retail
If you're a traditional retailer with a 'bricks and mortar' store then it's a fair bet that you employ some kind of EPoS system (unless of course, you're stuck in the dark ages and use a manual till system!). So what is an EPoS System and how can it help you?
Well EPoS stands for Electronic Point of Sale, it's an electronic implementation of a traditional shop till system - but modern EPoS systems can do a lot more than just add up cash and take cheques!
Modern EPoS systems marry up the roles of stock control, till and all other online selling channels all in one package. This means that with an EPoS system such as the Connect system offered by Intelligent Retail, all of the tasks carried out on external administration systems (for instance for an ecommerce website, Ebay, Amazon and Google Products) can be done directly from the shop till back office system. This massively cuts down on the time needed to trade across multiple channels as it means there is just one interface for all selling channels, in effect things have to be done once instead of multiple times.
So what's the story with multichannel EPoS systems?
Well a multichannel EPoS system allows, as the name suggests, multiple channels to be utilised from one system. This only works effectively if one stock tree is used across all channels used, which means when an EPOS system is built it's good to start with the stock control system and integrate into this. Intelligent Retail used just this approach when building the Connect EPoS system, infact the whole system is built on a centralised stock control system and database. This means that one system can be used to populate multiple channels - products are put into the epos system once and then products can be 'dragged and dropped' wherever they are to be sold, whether it be Ebay, the ecommerce enabled website or Amazon.
Of course using an integrated, centralised stock control system has other massive advantages. Because there is only one stock tree, all sales come off this one stock tree, meaning that not only do all sales come back into the shop till, there is never any danger of selling items more than once, a real headache for some retailers!
